Today I’m releasing a new app I’ve been building in my spare time:

YouHQ: Life Organizer

YouHQ is a reference guide for life’s important details. It’s a one-stop shop to keep track of info about your home, vehicles, finances, media, and career.

It’s available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. It’s built natively with Swift and SwiftUI, and the whole thing ships to all four platforms from one codebase with a few platform-specific tweaks.

I have a full-time job building Daysheets, so this was a nights-and-weekends project. But it’s an app I’ve wanted for myself for a long time.

Why I built it

I needed a reference guide for my life.

What color is the paint in the living room? When should I get my next oil change? Which account is that old HSA sitting in? What was the model name of that TV I bought three years ago? Where did I write down the serial number for the water heater?

These are the small, boring details of being an adult, and they live in a dozen scattered places. A note here, a screenshot there, a drawer full of paper somewhere else. I could never find any of it when I actually needed it.

So I built the thing I wished existed: a single, private place to keep all of it. I made it for myself, used it for a while, and eventually figured it might be useful to other people too. So here it is!

What’s inside

YouHQ organizes your life into five areas: home, vehicles, money, media, and career.

Home. Track multiple residences with their utilities, insurance, and paint colors. Schedule maintenance reminders, attach photos, and see the total monthly cost of ownership for each property.

Vehicles. Keep records for each of your vehicles, schedule service reminders, and see what each one really costs you every month.

Money. Keep a map of where everything lives. Bank accounts, investments, HSA and FSA accounts, and insurance policies, all in one place.

Media. Track your streaming services, subscriptions, and devices, and see your total monthly media spend at a glance.

Career. Track your job history and milestones, and watch your salary grow over time in a simple chart.

Your data is yours

This is personal information, so security and privacy is a hard requirement.

There are no YouHQ servers. Everything stays on your devices and syncs directly through iCloud using your Apple Account. Sensitive fields are encrypted on-device with AES-256-GCM encryption. And if you want to, you can share your data with others securely over iCloud.

The source code for YouHQ is fully open source and available on GitHub.
